In the heart of a bustling metropolis stood Central Station, a grand structure with ornate arches and a towering clock. Though its significance had faded over the years, the station remained a sanctuary for Eleanor, a silver-haired woman who visited Platform 9 every evening. Clutching a faded photograph of a young soldier, she sat on the wooden bench, her eyes fixed on the tracks.


Eleanor’s story began in 1945, at the end of the war. She had bid farewell to her fiancé, Thomas, a soldier with kind eyes and a crooked smile. "I'll be back on the first train," he had promised before disappearing into the crowd. Decades passed, but Thomas never returned. Yet Eleanor waited, her hope undiminished.

One evening, as the station grew quieter, the stationmaster Samuel approached. "Evening, Mrs. Clarke," he greeted warmly.


"Good evening, Samuel," she replied, glancing at the clock. It was routine—her quiet vigil for a train that never came.


But that night was different. "The last train's delayed," Samuel remarked. "Unusual, isn’t it?"


Eleanor’s heart quickened. She turned her gaze back to the tracks, the air heavy with anticipation. Moments later, the distant whistle of an approaching train broke the silence. The locomotive arrived, its doors sliding open. Passengers disembarked, their faces unfamiliar. Eleanor scanned the crowd, her hope flickering.


And then, she saw him. Thomas stood at the end of the platform, unchanged by time, his uniform immaculate, his crooked smile intact. Tears filled her eyes as she approached him.
